returning to work thoughts

Wow who would have thought the decision would be so difficult to make.

I've been lucky to have spent 3 years at home with Torin but I'm now feeling the pull to return back to work. I started putting things in motion when I started going to college on Monday nights. The idea behind that was that when Torin is ready to start school in 2 years time I'll be qualified as a TA & would be heading back to work. Since starting that in September the pull to find myself has surfaced really strong.

Today I've made some phone calls to some nurseries to see if they have vacancies for Torin. Wednesday I will be speaking to the head of department where I volunteer to see if they've got anything available there.

Now if only those damn butterflies would go away

Incense Sticks Give Away

Because of how crazy both my boys are when they are about we can't have candles burning. So when my house needs to smell fresher (living with 3 males that occurs quite often) and the kids are around I get out the incense sticks.

I'm not a huge fan of vanilla scent, I find it a bit sickly so I was a little bit apprehensive about making this batch of candles. I was just going to add the scent but decided at the last minute to make them yellow. And wow I'm really liking how they came out. My whole house was filled with this lovely aroma.

I love it now that Xmas is on it's way, it's a reason for me to buy lots of craft bits. One of my favourite online suppliers is Baker Ross. They do a whole ton of craft stuff & I always end up spending a fortune. Unfortunately my sons don't share my passion for craft & so many things I end up buying get wasted. Luckily my friends boys are always happy to get crafty with me.

Today's give away is another one of my buys that my boys have shown no interest in. I took the photo frames round to my friends and her eldest Josh was happy to paint one for me:

Scented Candle Give Away

I've recently got into candle making after my mum bought me a kit for last Xmas I'd out off using the kit as I thought it would be difficult, but it's so easy. I've now gone out & purchased different scents & colours.

For my first attempt at using scents I went for a Rose, which I am now giving away here (I've also got a French Vanilla set I'll be posting in a day or so).

Shrinkles Give Away

I've seen these around for ages and always wondered how they worked. The class I work in are doing about Kings and Queens this term and my local craft shop just happened to have some Shrinkles of our Kings and Queens - unfortunately my youngest got hold of it and it didn't make it to class :(

I also picked up this great dinosaur one to give away:



The kit makes 28+ shrinkles which you can make into magnets, key rings, pencil toppers, badges and a few other bits so loads of things to keep them amused. All you're needed for is to pop them in the oven for a few minutes to shrink them.

Xmas Sack Give Away

To coincide with the Carnival I'm going to be hosting a give away every day of the week. It's my 1st time in a carnival so please bear with me.

So enough waffling & let me introduce the 1st give away of the week - A Xmas Sack.

If you're anything like me you like to get Xmas shopping over & done with early. The only problem with that is you end up with carrier bags off stuff all over the place. Whilst out the other day on another shopping trip I came across these lovely sacks:



The sack is made from a really thick felt & the drawstring at the top actually functions, so no more presents falling out the top (unless you've really spoiled your child this year)as you tip toe into their room.

It's carnival time

Yeap yours truly has been spluttering since Tuesday. Even worse, it's just in time for the school holidays starting on Monday. The boys go crazy when they're together so it's going to be a very challenging week, which I think the boys will win.

Need to get my butt moving

My candle making as screeched to a halt since I did my experiment with the rose scented ones.

I'm planing to make some:

plus I also said I'd make some for my friends Xmas wreath.

Leaf Art

Now the leaves have started falling off the tree's be prepaired to see some art using leaves.

Torin has a huge fascination with tree's & leaves and is thrilled about them coming off of the tree's. He's been nagging me for weeks about bringing some home from nursery but they've always been soaking wet. I've come home today to find his collection that Grandma let him pick up.

So I'm off to look for leafy art idea's.

ugh homework

Next week at college I need to give a 5 minute talk on a disability. Anyone who knows me knows I hate doing things like this.

I've chosen my subject, I'm going to talk about Fragile X Syndrome & I've bullet points of things I want to talk about & have found some photos/pictures I want to use as well. I need to sort it into some order though & then practice my speech.

I must remember on the day not to wear red, otherwise I'll look like a giant tomato.

Photography

I really need to take some more piccies for my scrapping. Mind you getting my boys to co-operate for a photo shoot is beyond impossible. Cam hates his photo being taken, hence why you see a lot of "on the go" shots of him. Torin hardly stays still long enough.

You hardly see piccies of me as Stephen is terrible with a camera (mind you at least he gets all of you in the shot unlike my mum who's famous for headless shots). He hasn't grasped the zoom in function yet, so you end up with you being this small image in the distance.

So all you photo experts (calling Diana!!!!) give me some tips on taking great photi's.

First off I hate using templates, for some reason I struggle with them. And secondly it used blocking, I can never get blocking right, but I went for it & this is what I came up with.

Why does Torin always navigate towards my side of the bed when he sleeps with us?

My poor little fella has got a rotten cough/cold & was burning up last night. He ended up sleeping with us as he woke Cam up.

We have a huge super kingsize bed & yet I still ended up on the edge with hardly any covers, whilst DH happily snores away. Grrrrrrrr
